How to Read Odds
Understanding odds is one of the most important skills in online betting. At 499bad you will find three main odds formats — decimal, fractional and American. Decimal odds are the most widely used in Bangladesh.
You placed a ৳500 bet and the odds were 1.80
Total return = ৳500 × 1.80 = ৳900 (profit ৳400)
Odds of 1.80 mean the event has roughly a 55.6% chance of happening. Calculation: 1 ÷ 1.80 × 100 = 55.6%. The lower the odds, the higher the probability.
5/4 means a profit of 5 for every 4 staked. A ৳400 bet returns ৳500 profit.
+150 means a ৳100 bet wins ৳150. -150 means you need to bet ৳150 to win ৳100.
RTP and House Edge Explained
RTP (Return to Player) is a theoretical percentage — it shows how much of the total amount wagered a game pays back to players over the long run. For example, if a slot has an RTP of 96%, it returns an average of ৳96 for every ৳100 bet — but this is an average across millions of spins, not the result of a single session.
House Edge is the flip side of RTP. A 96% RTP means a house edge of 4%. Typical RTP ranges across different games:
92–98%
Higher volatility allows for bigger wins, but also means greater swings.
~99%
With the right strategy, the house edge can be as low as 0.5–1%.
94–97%
European Roulette is more favourable than American.
95–97%
Key factor: deciding when to cash out.
Knowing the RTP helps you choose games wisely and plan your budget. Keep in mind — RTP is a long-term probability; in the short term, results are completely random.
Bankroll Management Guide
The most important part of responsible gambling is proper bankroll management. It's not just about winning strategies — you also need to know how to handle losses. Follow the points below:
- Set a budget: Decide how much money you can set aside each month for entertainment. Make sure losing this amount won't affect your household expenses or savings.
- Divide into sessions: Split your total bankroll into smaller sessions. Instead of spending it all in one go, save some for the next day.
- The 1–5% rule: It's best to keep each bet between 1% and 5% of your total bankroll. This allows you to keep playing for longer.
- Set a win limit: Decide in advance how much profit is enough to end a session. Avoid greed and pocket your winnings.
- Stop after a loss: End the session once you hit a set loss limit. Chasing losses with bigger bets often leads to even bigger losses.
- Keep records: Write down your deposits, bets, and withdrawals for every session. This helps you understand your own patterns.
